Bio

Sabine Djahanschah has headed the ‘Sustainable Construction’ division at the German Federal Environmental Foundation (DBU) since 1996. As an architect, she combines many years’ experience in construction practice with her expertise in the fields of sustainable, resource-efficient and circular construction. In her work, she supports innovative projects and promotes the development of sustainable solutions for the construction and property sectors.
Alongside her work at the DBU, she is actively involved in numerous specialist committees and institutions. Among other roles, she is a member of the jury for the German Timber Construction Award, a member of the Board of Trustees of the Federal Foundation for Building Culture, a member of the Board of Trustees of the Fraunhofer Institute for Building Physics (IBP), and serves on various federal expert advisory boards. With her many years of experience, she is one of the leading voices for sustainable construction in Germany.
