
Dr. Ulrike Hopp-Nishanka has been working for over 20 years as a practitioner, researcher, and lecturer in conflict transformation and peacebuilding, most recently focusing on inclusive peacebuilding and reconstruction in Ukraine, the MENA region, and Afghanistan. She has been working for the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) for 25 years and currently heads the Ukraine Task Force. Previously, she was Deputy Head of Division in the Afghanistan/Pakistan Division (2012–2016 and 2021–2022) and in the former Middle East II Division as advisor for the crisis contexts Syria, Iraq, Yemen, and Libya (2016–2019). From 2005 to 2012, she was Deputy Head of the Sri Lanka Project at the Berghof Foundation and supported the Mediation and Peace Infrastructure Programme.
