Dr. Christine Lemaitre, born in Gießen, studied civil engineering at the University of Stuttgart. After a professional stay in the USA, she was employed at the Institute for Lightweight Design and Construction at the University of Stuttgart from 2003 and at Bilfinger Berger AG from 2007. In January 2009, she took over as Head of the Systems Department at the DGNB. Dr. Christine Lemaitre has been Managing Director of the DGNB since February 2010. She was a member of the Board of the World Green Building Council (WGBC) from 2016 to 2020 and is also a member of the Advisory Board for Building Culture of the State of Baden-Württemberg, the Sustainability Council of the ZIA and the Board of Directors of the Cradle to Cradle Product Innovation Institute. She is also co-initiator of the international planner initiative "Building Sense Now", chairwoman of the European network Climate Positive Europe Alliance (CPEA) and a board member of the Knowledge Foundation.
