Jürgen Matthes heads the thematic cluster for International Economic Policy, Financial and Real Estate Markets at the German Economic Institute (IW), where he has been working since 1995.

He has published extensively on a wide range of topics, is actively engaged in policy advisory work in Berlin and Brussels, and is regularly quoted in the media.

His broad field of expertise includes globalization, trade and financial market policy, China, EU integration, competitiveness, and structural change.
