Karen Olson-Robins is a community organizer and coach with 15 years of experience in the US, Europe and Russia. She has worked as an expert for both public agencies and NGOs, coordinating and coaching community organizing workshops from 2018 to the present both in person and online for participants across Europe and in Russia. She works in English, Russian, French and Italian, which are the languages she covers as a simultaneous interpreter based in Geneva, Switzerland.  She is a dual US-Swiss citizen.

She worked as a Field Organizer for the Obama 2008 Presidential Campaign in Florida and served as a Democrats Abroad delegate to the 2016 Democratic National Convention. She has collaborated with Democrats Abroad Switzerland for many years.

In 2017, Karen served as a Global Coordinator for Women’s March, working with a small team to organize grassroots coalitions around the world. The result was a historic global march of 5 million people on January 21st, 2017, promoting women’s rights as human rights and championing the values of equality, diversity and inclusion. She also launched the “Theatrical Perspectives” program in Moscow in 2012, which continues to this day, providing young people with disabilities the opportunity to learn the art of playwriting to find their public voice, to experience and advocate for inclusion and to acquire leadership skills.

She first worked in Moscow in 1989 as a Russian-speaking Exhibit Guide for the “Design USA” exhibit, as part of a decades-long cultural exchange program between the US and the USSR.

Karen holds an Executive Certificate in Public Leadership from the Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government, a Master’s Degree in Interpretation from the University of Geneva, and a Bachelor’s Degree in History, with Honors in Russian, Soviet and East European Studies, from Williams College in Williamstown, Massachusetts.
