
Dr. Eckart von Hirschhausen (born 1967) studied medicine and science journalism in Berlin, London, and Heidelberg. His specialty is communicating medical topics in a humorous and engaging way. He provides lasting impulses—whether on television, as a non-fiction author, at conferences, or as a keynote speaker. For him, “planetary health” means giving top priority to protecting our natural life-support systems and ensuring a future that is fit for coming generations. To this end, he founded the “Healthy Earth – Healthy People” foundation in 2020 and published the book Human Earth – We Could Have It So Good. He hosts the program Wissen vor 8 – Erde for ARD, as well as numerous documentaries. Eckart von Hirschhausen is an honorary member of the faculty at Charité, a member of the Sustainability Advisory Council of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, a member of the Club of Rome, and an honorary professor in Marburg. He lives in Berlin, is married, Protestant, and remains committed to fostering positive change.
